The Lebanon Mountain Trail is a unique national asset connecting rural communities, natural landscapes, and cultural heritage across Lebanon. Maintaining and developing this living trail requires sustained effort and resources.
Ongoing support is needed for trail maintenance, restoration, signage, monitoring, environmental protection, community engagement, and initiatives that strengthen responsible tourism and rural livelihoods. It also helps advance environmental education, inclusion, and other public-benefit activities aligned with the Foundation’s mission.
Through fundraising and strategic grant-making, the Foundation seeks to provide sustainable long-term support for these public-benefit objectives. The LMT Association is an important strategic partner and eligible beneficiary, while the Foundation may also support other qualified public-benefit organizations whose work aligns with its objectives.
The Challenges of a Living Trail
The LMT requires year-round care and protection. Alongside the challenges of trail maintenance, its landscapes face pressures including illegal quarrying, unregulated construction, road cutting, deforestation, irresponsible hunting, and waste dumping.
These pressures can affect biodiversity, natural and cultural heritage, and the integrity of the landscapes through which the trail passes. Continued investment is therefore important not only for maintaining the trail, but also for supporting conservation, environmental awareness, responsible tourism, and community-based initiatives.
The Foundation seeks to help address these needs through responsible stewardship, fundraising, and strategic grant-making, with the aim of creating lasting public benefit for Lebanon and its communities.

The Foundation has a long-term vision of developing sustainable financing for its public-benefit objectives, supporting conservation, community development, environmental education, wellbeing, and socially responsible and inclusive outdoor initiatives in Lebanon.
Long-term capital may include donor- or testator-restricted endowment funds and reasonable reserves, maintained in accordance with applicable requirements. The Foundation also uses unrestricted funds to support its planned public-benefit activities and reasonable continuity needs.
Over time, the Foundation seeks to generate sustainable resources that can provide grants and other support to the Lebanon Mountain Trail Association, as an important strategic partner and eligible beneficiary, and where appropriate to other qualified public-benefit organizations whose objectives and activities align with its own.
Through prudent governance, responsible stewardship, and strategic grant-making, the Foundation aims to strengthen the continuity and resilience of its public-benefit work and contribute to lasting benefits for Lebanon’s natural and cultural heritage and its communities.
Transparency & Accountability
The Foundation is committed to transparency, accountability, and responsible stewardship of its resources, ensuring that they are managed in accordance with its public-benefit objectives.
The Foundation prepares and makes publicly available annual activity and financial reports, and provides updates to donors and relevant stakeholders on its activities, progress, and outcomes.
The Foundation monitors and evaluates supported initiatives to assess their effectiveness and contribution to its public-benefit objectives.
It complies with applicable legal and regulatory requirements, including ANBI obligations, and maintains accurate and complete administrative records.
