The Lebanon Mountain Trail Foundation is an independent Dutch Stichting with its own Board and decision-making responsibilities, dedicated to advancing public-benefit objectives that protect Lebanon’s natural and cultural heritage and promote environmental education, rural development, wellbeing, inclusion, and responsible tourism.
The Foundation seeks to develop sustainable long-term financing for these public-benefit objectives through donations, gifts, bequests, partnerships, and other sources of funding. Long-term capital may include donor- or testator-restricted endowment funds and reasonable reserves maintained in accordance with applicable requirements. Unrestricted funds are applied or retained in accordance with the Foundation’s planned public-benefit activities and reasonable continuity needs.
The Lebanon Mountain Trail Association (LMTA) is an important strategic partner and eligible beneficiary, but the Foundation is not established for the benefit of any single organisation or project. The Foundation may also provide grants or other support to other qualified public-benefit organisations whose objectives and activities are aligned with its own.
The Foundation’s Board independently determines how the Foundation’s assets are used and which organisations and initiatives receive support. Through prudent governance, responsible stewardship, fundraising, and strategic grant-making, the Foundation seeks to create lasting public benefit for Lebanon and future generations.
Our goal is simple: to help safeguard Lebanon’s natural and cultural heritage today, so that it remains alive, accessible, and meaningful for generations to come.
